History

Since independence in 1966, Botswana has maintained one of the highest economic growth rates in the world. It has combined its rich natural resources (diamonds and gold) with sound fiscal management and 40 years of peaceful civilian government free of corruption.

However, this security is threatened by the second-highest HIV/AIDS prevalence in the world, with close to 40% of the adult population infected.

Areas Impacted

NetsforLife® is working in 28 villages and targeting approximately 72,350 people in two districts in Botswana: Ngami and Okavango.  100% of the Ngami population is at risk of infection.

Some partners of the program include the Ministry of Health, the National Malaria Control Program, Clinton Foundation, Hindu Society, International Foundation of the Red Cross and UNICEF.
